Leading Provider of Financial Management Solutions for Shared IT Services Announces Executive Appointment
Bloomfield, New Jersey - September 3, 2002 —Continuing the build-out of its senior management ranks in response to growing business demands and operations, Apogee Networks®, the leading provider of usage-based accounting and charge back solutions for enterprise IT environments, today announced that Roger Boyce, 47, has been named President and CEO of Apogee Networks.
Prior to joining Apogee Networks Boyce was Vice President and General Manager of Zhone Technologies, a provider of "last mile" telecommunications products. Boyce joined Zhone Technologies as a founding executive of the management team and ran the voice technology division, which generated the majority of Zhone's new product revenue in 2001. Prior to his tenure at Zhone he served as Vice President and General Manager of Ascend Communications, a provider of Internet infrastructure products where he created Ascend's first business unit that had responsibility for all business functions and doubled its revenue growth every year. Ascend was later acquired by Lucent Technologies.
Earlier he held senior management roles with AT&T Business Communications Systems (which became Lucent Technologies) and Motorola/Codex, a provider of data networking products for enterprise networks.
"Throughout my career I have experienced the challenge of managing the escalating demand for shared IT resources. Placed in the context of current economic conditions that demand is forcing IT departments to increasingly focus on cost managementŠ.sometimes at the expense of service provisioning," said Boyce. "Faced with this challenge, a growing number of CFOs and CIOs are revisiting usage-based accounting as a means of managing the growing costs of shared IT services. Apogee Networks is a pioneer in the commercialization of usage-based accounting and charge back solutions for enterprise IT services and I'm delighted to have the opportunity to take the company to its next stage of development," he concluded. Boyce will operate out of Apogee Networks headquarters in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
About Apogee Networks
Apogee Networks financial analysis systems can reduce the cost of delivering IT services such as network bandwidth, data storage, e-mail and Internet access. By providing a financial model of network usage costly legacy systems and applications are highlighted for more cost effective upgrades, wasteful consumption is eliminated and less than efficient network configurations are highlighted for redress. Additionally, budgeting methodology is improved by introducing varying degrees of usage-based charge back. Variations can range from merely using the data to establish budgets based on actual consumption of data to actual charge back on a periodic basis. A winner of several prestigious industry awards, Apogee Networks includes numerous Fortune 1000 companies as its customers. As a result, global enterprises have gained greater control of rising IP network costs, enabling CIOs and CFOs to implement "best practice" accounting decisions for data/IP network, storage, application and Internet usage and allocation, as well as increased visibility into the financial performance of the network.
