Technologic Partners Honors Security Silicon Startup
AUSTIN, Texas December 5, 2002 —Layer N Networks, an Austin, Texas-based security semiconductor company, today announced that they have been chosen by Technologic Partners as a winner of its Investors' Choice award.
The award, presented at the conclusion of the two-day MicroVentures private equity conference, goes to ten of the privately held companies presenting at the conference who are judged "most likely to succeed." The event, held in Burlingame, California, featured over 70 emerging companies in the semiconductor industry and in micro/nano-technologies.
"The Investors' Choice award is unique in that the panel of judges at the Technologic Partners conference view emerging companies from many perspectives, as a potential investor would," said Stephen Straus, General Partner of Austin Ventures, a venture capital firm. "A start-up needs to have it all to succeed: outstanding technology, world class employees, operational excellence, strong market potential for their products and high barriers to entry for competitors. To be viewed by the experts and judged 'most likely to succeed' is a big achievement for Layer N."
"To be chosen from among the many emerging private companies is a tremendous honor," said Mike Salas, CEO of Layer N Networks. "For our employees who have worked so hard to bring this company forward and for our investors who believed in our vision from our founding, I'm excited to bring this award back to Austin."
