John Villasenor has advised Granite Ventures on strategic and technical issues for over ten years. He is a professor in the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Nonresident Senior Fellow in the Governance Studies Program and the Center for Technology Innovation at the Brookings Institution.
In addition to Granite, John has advised leading technology companies including Adobe, Polycom, Research in Motion, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Tivo, and Warner Brothers.
John has also been a frequent participant in the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the Internet Engineering Task Force, IEEE, and other related industry organizations developing next generation wireless communications standards. His research at UCLA lies in communications, computing and networking.
John holds 18 patents and has published more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
John holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
